but they have an advantage over you .they know your name and where you live .!.

Now in the UK and I think Europe they can’t record it though. That has completely knocked the stasi records culture to pieces.
The “ministry” has been turned on it’s head, they have been effectively been stopped from following up anything but the hottest leads. The takers from outside are almost non-existent so I wouldn’t worry Smiddy, the only way they will have your name etc is if they commit it to memory.

I wouldn't say I'm a corruptive influence but every month there is a KH FS meet on a Saturday. My wife and I turn up, suggest to one or two that we slope off for coffee.
It's a wonderfully subversive way to lead others astray. You would be surprised at how frank the conversations can be when everybody is being a little naughty. I actually look forward to it.
We do it for CO visits as well, great fun.

There is some good advice here. If you want to fight, it's a fairly dangerous strategy, to what end? If you win, you would still be an elder. The whole thing may be waking to your wife as you say. You could then resign on your own terms and possibly play the famous "stumbled" card.
If you just let events take their course you will be in the enviable position of being off the tread mill.
I think your wife is the biggest factor in this, sometimes "winning her over without a word" works. She will see the machinations, observe the positive effects of you being relieved of the burden and possibly be helped along the way.
